Authorities in East Texas have charged a man in the death of his girlfriend's 5-month-old daughter.
Sabine County Capt. George Griffith says 25-year-old Matthew Hudson of Hemphill was arrested Tuesday on a murder charge and is set to be arraigned on Wednesday.
He says Hudson was watching the infant on Friday while her mother was at work. The girl was taken to an area hospital emergency room later that day and died at a children's hospital in Houston on Saturday.
Griffith says the child died from apparent head trauma. He says an autopsy has been ordered and deputies are still investigating.
It wasn't immediately clear if Hudson has an attorney.
