Second North Texan Identified in Deadly Mississippi Plane Crash

Authorities have identified a second North Texan among the 16 service members killed in a plane crash Monday in Mississippi.

Marine Sgt. Julian M. Kevianne, whose home of record was indicated as Dallas, was identified Friday as one of the victims.

Fifteen Marines and a Navy sailor were on board the KC-130 aircraft that went down near in a soybean field about 85 miles north of Jackson. They were on their way to Arizona for training, according to the U.S. military.

Highland Park High School alum Staff Sgt. Joshua Michael Snowden, 31, was a flight engineer on the aircraft. He has family in Dallas and Atlanta.

Marines Forces Reserve Commander Lt. Gen. Rex C. McMillian released the following statement Tuesday:

"On behalf of the Marine Corps Reserve, I extend my deepest sympathies to the loved ones of those who perished in last night's tragedy. The Marines and Sailor involved in this incident were among our finest. They dedicated their lives to our core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment. They will never be forgotten."

A Marine Corps spokesperson said the tanker "experienced a mishap" but has not explained what happened. This was the deadliest Marine Corps air disaster since 2005, when a transport helicopter went down during a sandstorm in Iraq, killing 30 Marines and a sailor.
