Orange barrels seem to be everywhere this summer.
By the end of the summer, nine major construction projects will be underway throughout North Texas, including the DFW Connector, LBJ Express and North Tarrant Express projects.
Finally Chikuju, of Euless, described trying to navigate the DFW Connector project as "really crazy."
"Just like now, we were supposed to go to the movie but we got lost," she said.
"What we have more of this year than anything else are these megaprojects," said Michelle Releford, Texas Department of Transportation spokeswoman. "There have always been projects going on, but these are right in the center of our heaviest-trafficked areas."
And don't forget regular construction. There are 231 other projects this summer in the 16 counties covered by TxDOT's Dallas and Fort Worth districts.
"We have our run-of-the-mill, everyday highway construction that's ongoing as well," TxDOT spokesman Val Lopez said.

The best advice for dealing with delays is to be sure to have plenty of water, snacks and patience.
"You need to spend more time planning and plan for more time on the road," Releford said.
