Sanctuary Where 7 Big Cats Died Get 10 New Tigers

A North Texas animal sanctuary where seven big cats died of a viral outbreak last year is the new home for 13 new big cats, including 10 tigers.

A statement by In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue and Education Center near Dallas says three adult cougars are moving in, along with the 10 adult tigers.

Last summer 22 cats -- lions, tigers and leopards -- tested positive for canine distemper at the height of the outbreak at the Wylie sanctuary. Seven died.

Experts believe raccoons transferred the virus into the large outdoor cages that house the cats. The 25 cats that survived the outbreak no longer test positive for the virus.
