San Antonio Officer's Police Radio Stops Bullet, 1 Arrested

A San Antonio police officer's radio on her gun belt stopped a bullet fired during an alleged road-rage incident as she drove to work.

Police said Officer Crystal Torres was in uniform and heading to work Tuesday night in her personal vehicle when she allegedly was cut off by another driver. Investigators said that driver opened fire, with several bullets striking Torres' truck.

Torres followed the vehicle and relayed vehicle information to dispatchers. Other officers arrested 33-year-old Jose Antonio Rivera.

Torres wasn't hurt.

Bexar County jail records show Rivera was being held Thursday on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Online jail records don't list an attorney to speak for Rivera, whose bond was set at $75,000.
