San Angelo Man Gets Life in Prison for Role in 2 Slayings

A West Texas man has been sentenced to life in prison for his role in the 2013 fatal shooting of two people at a San Angelo apartment.

Daniel Uvalle of San Angelo was convicted Thursday of capital murder of multiple persons.

The victims were 22-year-olds Tabitha Freeman and Alvaro Carrillo Jr.

Prosecutors say Uvalle was 17 at the time of the gunfire during an argument. He's now 18, was tried as an adult and will be eligible for parole in 40 years.

Texas law does not allow life in prison without parole for a defendant who was 17 at the time of a slaying.

Another man, 19-year-old Johnny Garcia, awaits trial. Prosecutors aren't seeking the death penalty. Garcia would face life in prison without parole if convicted of capital murder.
