Rougned Odor Handed 8-Game Suspension: MLB Insider

Jose Bautista also given one game suspension

Texas Rangers infielders Rougned Odor and Elvis Andrus have been suspended alongside Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista follwing Sunday's brawl in Arlington.

Odor was handed an 8-game punishment two days after he threw a right cross that connected solidly with the left cheek of Bautista, sending him stumbling and his glasses and helmet flying.

MLB columnist for YahooSports, Jeff Passan, said Odor has also been fined $5,000.

Shortstop Elvis Andrus also received a one game suspension for throwing a punch at Kevin Pillar. Andrus will not appeal and will serve his suspension Tuesday in Oakland, according to Rangers beat writer Jeff Wilson with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Bautista, according to MLB reporter Chris Cotillo, has been handed a one-game suspension.

Odor's bench-clearing punch was retaliation for a hard slide into second by Bautista as he tried to break up a double-play -- a move made illegal by MLB.

Bautista, it seems, slid hard through Odor and past second as retaliation for being plunked in the upper body during has last at bat in the game.

Texas Rangers infielder Rougned Odor will appeal his eight-game suspension for punching Toronto Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista.

The plunking, if intentional, might have been a little payback for Bautista's arrogant flip of the bat toward the Rangers dugout after he hit a series-winning 3-run home run in Game 5 of the 2015 ALDS.

At this time there is no word on whether Bautista will be punished for his role in the bench-clearing scuffle.

Meanwhile, Heyman said Odor plans to appeal his suspension.
