Restaurant Holds Fundraiser To Support Injured Fort Worth Police Officer

A North Texas restaurant is raising money Wednesday for a Fort Worth police officer who was shot in the line of duty.

Chef Blythes Southern Bistro in North Richland Hills is donating 10 percent of its sales to Officer Matt Pearceโ€™s family.

On Tuesday, Pearceโ€™s wife said her husband suffered a major setback in his recovery after his abdominal incision "came completely open during a coughing fit."

Pearce remains in critical condition.

The restaurant is also holding a raffle for several big-ticket items Wednesday evening, including a suite at a Texas Rangers baseball game and a tour of AT&T Stadium.

Police officers and their families from across North Texas want to show their support.

"When you are a police officer and you do what you do on a daily basis, on a nightly basis, you guys become one as a family. And that includes your extended family," said Kelly Kinsella, the wife of a Fort Worth police officer.

"And I think it's great that we're here to support him and to support his family, who I know is going through a really rough time right now," she added.

The restaurant, located at is open until 10 p.m.
