2 Dead After Standoff at Watauga Home

SWAT team entered the residence just after 6 p.m. Saturday

Two people are dead after a standoff Saturday afternoon in Watauga, police say.

The North Richland Hill SWAT team entered a residence in the 6400 block of Loma Vista Drive in Watauga just after 6 p.m. Saturday and found one man and one woman dead, police said.

The incident was being investigated as a suicide, according to Watauga police.

Watauga police Lt. Jason Babcock said a man called 911 around 1 p.m. and indicated he might have injured himself or someone else.

Police could not make contact with anyone inside the home once they arrived on scene, which prompted them to enter the home, Babcock said.

For several hours Saturday afternoon, residents on Loma Vista Drive and Green Ridge Drive were advised to "shelter in place." However, streets reopened after the incident ended.
