NBC 5 has confirmed that Rep. Pete Sessions, R-Dallas, is interested in the Speaker of the House job, but only if Rep. Paul Ryan decides not to run.
Ryan appears to be a consensus candidate, after Rep. Kevin McCarthy decided to drop out of the race for speaker.
At first, Sessions said he was going to run for Majority Whip.
But when McCarthy dropped out, that set off a chain of events, and now the whip position is no longer available.
