Remains in Wall of Houston Home Identified as Missing Woman

Houston police have said there was no sign of foul play

Authorities say skeletal remains found inside the wall of a Houston house are the former homeowner, but they don't suspect foul play.

Neighbors reported 61-year-old Mary Cerruti missing in February 2015.

Her Heights home was later sold at a foreclosure auction. The new owners discovered the remains in a wall space after noticing a broken floorboard in the attic in March 2017.

Preliminary autopsy results released last summer indicated the remains were Cerruti. Medical examiners at the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences on Tuesday confirmed that identification. The body was found with a pair of glasses and shoes.

Houston police have said there was no sign of foul play.

The institute has not returned phone messages seeking comment Wednesday.
