Rangers Send Ryan Cordell to Brewers to Complete Aug. 1 Trade

The Texas Rangers announced Monday they sent minor league infielder/outfielder Ryan Cordell to the Milwaukee Brewers.

The move was done to complete the trade of Aug. 1 where Texas picked up pitcher Jeremy Jeffress and catcher Jonathan Lucroy for pitcher Luis Ortiz, outfielder Lewis Brinson and a player to be named later.

Cordell batted .264 with 19 homers and 70 RBI in 107 games for Double-A Frisco in 2016 while playing exclusively in the outfield. He has been sidelined since August 3 with a right high ankle sprain.

Texas’ 11th round pick in the 2013 MLB Draft, Cordell has also seen extensive time at shortstop in his four-year pro career. He was a non-roster invitee in Texas’ 2016 major league spring training camp.
