Private Clinic Offers Vaccinations Without Conditions

A private clinic in Farmers Branch that received more doses of the H1N1, or swine flu, vaccinations than the Dallas County Health Department is offering the doses to anyone with $20.

Flu Shots of America said it received close to 12,000 doses and is administering an average of 1,100 shots each day.

Jeff Vitt, the company's CEO, said he's providing the shots to anyone who wants one, even though public health professionals insist the vaccine should only be going to those in priority groups.

The priority groups include:  pregnant women, people who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age, health care and emergency medical services personnel with direct patient contact, children 6 months through 4 years of age, and children 5 through 18 years of age who have chronic medical conditions.

The state health department said it is investigating.
