Two men from El Salvador must serve 35-year terms in a U.S. prison for the 2013 gang-related killing of a teen whose mutilated body was found in Sam Houston National Forest.
Cristian Alexander Zamora and Ricardo Leonel Lara last year pleaded guilty to murder in federal court in Houston.
Investigators say the men used a machete and bats to kill 16-year-old Josael Guevara. Investigators believe the attackers were part of a violent street gang and their bosses ordered Zamora and Lara to kill the teen amid some type of dispute.
The victim was a sophomore at Klein Forest High School in Houston.
Zamora lived in Huntsville. Lara was living in Houston at the time of the slaying.
Both were sentenced Friday.
