President Bush, Laura Bush to Observe 9/11 Anniversary in North Texas

Sunday marks 15 years since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, and former President George W. Bush and first lady Laura Bush will observe the anniversary in North Texas.

They plan to attend a church service in Dallas and then participate in a private prayer and remembrance.

Later that afternoon, President Bush will toss the coin before the Dallas Cowboys' home opener at AT&T Stadium against the New York Giants. He and Mrs. Bush will be accompanied by two New York City police officers who were at Ground Zero on 9/11.

A halftime ceremony at the game will honor America's first responders.

And all of Sunday's NFL games will include a video message from President Bush and President Barack Obama.

In a statement released Friday, President Bush said:

"Laura and I join our fellow citizens in remembering the lives lost at Ground Zero, the Pentagon, and in Shanksville on September 11, 2001. We hold the victims of 9/11 and their families in our hearts, and on this fifteenth anniversary, we lift them up in our prayers. May God bless all who mourn, and may he continue to bless and watch over our great land."
