Power Lines Knocked Down by 18-Wheeler in Arlington

The driver of an 18-wheeler hit a power line early Monday morning in Arlington causing several utility poles to be knocked down.

Police said the driver was turning north onto Cooper Street from eastbound Randol Mill Road when he felt his truck slow down.

When the driver stopped and got out of his truck, three utility poles had already been knocked down.

Police said the truck was normal height and are trying to figure out how it came in contact with the power line.

Electricity was only knocked out to the traffic lights at the intersection. Power was never knocked out at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital which is located at the intersection.

Police said it will be several hours before the intersection is reopened to traffic.

The driver of the semi was not hurt in the incident.
