Addison based Fiesta Restaurant Group announced Monday that it's shutting down all Pollo Tropical locations in North Texas.
In a news release, the company said on top of the North Texas closures, restaurants in Austin and Nashville Tennessee will also close. Locations in Florida, Atlanta Georgia and six in South Texas will stay open.
Right now it's unclear how many employees may have been let go when the locations were closed for good on Monday.
Some of the employees may have been able to transfer to nearby Taco Cabana locations, which is also owned by Fiesta Restaurant Group.
The company said it's entering into a "strategic renewal plan" and hopes to relaunch the Pollo Tropical brand in September. Fiesta also plans to relaunch the Taco Cabana brand later this year.
Fiesta also mentioned that five of the closed Pollo Tropical locations may be relaunched as Taco Cabana restaurants, but specific locations were not given.
Back in December, Pollo Tropical shut down 5 North Texas locations, citing a slump in sales.
