Robbers Drop Into Stores Through Ceiling; Lead Standoff with Police

Police said to armed men fell through the ceiling of a shopping center while hiding from police during a standoff Saturday afternoon.

At around 3 a.m. Saturday, witnesses saw the two men force business managers in the Plaza Latina Bazaar to unlock cash from game machines inside the stores. The men also demanded money from witnesses, police said.

Officers were called to the scene for a robbery, but were unable to gain access to the building. Dallas police were able to evacuate patrons from the businesses.

At 8:55 am and 10:15 am respectively, the first and second suspected robbers surrendered without incident, according to Dallas police.

Both men were taken to the Crimes Against Persons’ Robbery Unit. Investigators said the two will face Aggravated Robbery charges, and additional charges could be added.

No injuries were reported, and the identities of the robbers were not immediately released.
