According to police, a woman, identified as 40-year-old Tammy Mclain, and a man whose identity has not yet been confirmed, tried to cross the street from the north to south when they were struck in the eastbound lanes of 2400 West Division Street at about 2:12 a.m.

Police said the pedestrians did not use a crosswalk when they walked into the road. The driver of the vehicle that struck the two people did not stop and left the scene, according to police.

West Division Street was closed for several hours early Saturday as investigators processed the scene.

Arlington police released photos of a "person and vehicle of interest" in connection to the incident. The man was not considered a suspect, but both he and the vehicle were seen in the area at the time of the crash, according to police.

Detectives said there should be damage to the front of the vehicle, but a description was not immediately released.
