Police Arrest Woman Accused of Robbing Elderly Woman at Grocery Store

Mesquite Police say the suspect robbed and then dragged an elderly woman with her car, causing injuries.

Authorities arrested a woman they say assaulted and robbed an elderly woman in a grocery store parking lot, Mesquite police said Saturday.

Police identified the person of interest as 40-year-old Melanie King Dickey of Dallas and charged her with aggravated robbery and credit card abuse.

The robbery happened Tuesday in the Kroger parking lot in the 500 block of North Galloway Avenue, according to police.

Police said the victim was an 80-year-old woman, who suffered a fractured nose after she was dragged a short distance by the suspect's vehicle. 

A surveillance camera captured photos of Dickey and her vehicle, described as a black 2005 to 2010 year model Chrysler 300 and may be missing a front license plate, police said. 

Mesquite police thanked the public for their help identifying Dickey.
