Texas police are looking for a man in a cowboy hat who they said stole 15 purses and eluded authorities after a chase on the interstate.
The Galveston Daily News reported the theft occurred Wednesday at a Palais Royal store. Sgt. Joshua Schirard said a man in a plaid shirt told employees he was armed with a gun. He said the man didn't show a weapon, but collected the purses and fled.
Schirard said a man matching the description was spotted driving a blue Ford Fusion shortly thereafter. He said the man led authorities on a high-speed chase and escaped the island on Interstate 45.
Police lost sight of the vehicle when it exited near Dickinson.
