Police: 9 Unrelated Threats Before Texas School Shooting

Police records show a Houston-area high school received nine threats in the months leading up to a mass shooting that killed 10 people.

The police chief for the Santa Fe Independent School District wouldn't detail the threats but says none was related to the May 18 shooting that killed eight students and two substitute teachers at Santa Fe High School.

Records obtained by the Houston Chronicle show that 114 incidents were handled by district police in 2018 before the shooting. Nine were under columns that described the received calls as "threats." One came nine days before the shootings.

Other incidents carried such labels as thefts, medical issues, disturbances and traffic accidents.

A 17-year-old student with no record of previous trouble is jailed and charged with capital murder in the shooting.
