The man's girlfriend called police and said he shot at her outside the home in the 7200 block of Preston Road at about 3:30 a.m.

Police said a bullet struck a vehicle and residents were advised to stay inside their homes during the standoff.

While police were working on a plan to evacuate, the man voluntarily walked out of the home just after 7 a.m.

Plano police identified the man Wednesday afternoon as 40-year-old Kerry Terrell Bradley, of Plano. Bradley has been charged with deadly conduct and is being held in the Collin County Detention Center.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
