Dallas Paramedic Attacked Responding to Call

A Dallas man who called 911 for medical help is accused of punching a paramedic after being told he didn't need to be hospitalized, Dallas police say.

At about 1:45 a.m. Sunday paramedics with Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to a call from Pilo Tienda, 32, who requested medical attention at the Main Street Garden Park in Downtown.

The paramedics checked the individual and determined he did not need to go to the hospital.

Tienda became violent, punched a paramedic and then tackled him to the ground. A second paramedic was able to assist and held Tienda down until Dallas police arrived.

The first paramedic was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Tienda was arrested for assault on a public servant and transported to Lew Sterrett Jail.
