What you are about to read is not a typo or a mistake: GOP rivals Gov. Rick Perry and Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison actually agree on something.
The two gubernatorial candidates have been throwing jabs at each other for the past few months on everything from federal stimulus money to the Legislature's special session.
But Wednesday, they found common ground.
Even though the "Cash for Clunkers" program has provided a shot in the arm for local car dealerships, the governor and the senator both think the program is garbage.
A Hutchison spokesman said the senator will oppose the legislation for additional funds for "Cash for Clunkers" that is making the rounds in the Senate.
Mark Miner, Perry's spokesman, said the governor is opposed to the program.
"After years of deficits, earmarks and bailouts, this is yet another example of the federal government offering a program it can't pay for," Miner said.
