Patient Dead After Car Collides With Ambulance

Man stung by bees dies in ambulance crash

A patient being rushed by ambulance to a North Texas hospital after being attacked by bees is dead after the ambulance in which he was riding crashed with a car.

Wichita County Sheriff David Duke tells the Wichita Falls Times Record News that the crash happened about noon Monday as the ambulance was taking a man attacked by bees in Archer City to United Regional Hospital in Wichita Falls.

He says the ambulance entered an intersection near downtown Wichita Falls when a car slammed into it, knocking the ambulance onto its side.

Duke says two paramedics in the ambulance and the woman driving the car suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

It's unclear if 58-year-old Roy Lee Pope of Archer City died of injuries or the bee stings.
