Packages Stolen From Porches of Dallas Neighborhood

Neighbors believe a thief is following delivery trucks, then stealing packages soon after drop-off

Neighbors in the Wynnewood North neighborhood of Oak Cliff put out a crime alert, warning residents that someone is possibly following UPS, FedEx and US Postal Service trucks, then stealing packages right after they're delivered.

Crime Watch director Jeff Sappenfield sent a message to the entire neighborhood.

"I am sorry to inform our neighbors that we have had packages stolen from three homes in the last couple of weeks," Sappenfield wrote.

"We know one of these packages was delivered at 11 a.m. and stolen by noon," the message continued.

The message said a gold Ford Taurus was spotted following the neighborhood's mail carrier last week.

Sappenfield advised neighbors to be on the lookout for cars that appear to be following delivery trucks. He also asked residents to take photos of suspicious vehicles, and to use a tracking number to keep track of deliveries.
