One man is in critical condition and a man who barricaded himself inside a home is in custody after a standoff in Pleasant Grove Wednesday afternoon, police say.

Dallas police said the incident started at about 3:30 p.m. with a shooting in the 2000 block of Las Cruces Lane.

Police said a witness told them the suspected gunman and the man who was shot got into an argument about something that happened a few days ago. When the argument escalated, police said the witness told them one man pulled out a gun and shot the other.

The suspected gunman then ran into a home in the 2000 block of Hillburn Drive, about two blocks away, police said.

Police said the man surrendered to authorities around 7 p.m. Wednesday.

While police said witnesses connected the incidents, police have not independently confirmed the man in the home on Hillburn Drive is the same man who fired shots on Las Cruces Lane.

The man who was shot was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, police said.
