Man Dead After SUV Plunges Into Coppell Creek

Coppell police are investigating what caused a man to run off Interstate 635 and plummet into a creek.

Just after 6 a.m. Tuesday morning, police responded to a creek near Freeport Parkway and I-635 where a vehicle was submerged.

Police said a Toyota Highlander heading east on I-635 traveled through a grassy median without swerving before it plunged into the water.

One adult male was found dead inside a sports utility vehicle after police responded.

Dive teams helped investigate and attach towing equipment to help pull the SUV from the water.

The medical examiner's office is working to identify the victim and the cause of death.
