Officers on Leave After Attack on Dallas Police HQ

A total of 14 Dallas police officers who engaged with the gunman in Saturday's attack on police headquarters were placed on administrative leave, per departmental policy, officials said in a statement Sunday.

James Boulware, 35, is suspected of planting pipe bombs outside Dallas police headquarters before firing at officers with automatic weapons from his armored van Saturday morning.

After leading police to Hutchins, and a brief standoff, a police sniper shot and killed Boulware An autopsy is pending at the Dallas Medical Examiner's office, police said.

All involved officers will be monitored and given counseling, as needed, the department said in the statement.

Dallas police investigators continued to conduct interviews with officers and witnesses to the incident. Work to reopen the headquarters lobby to the public is ongoing, police said.

Police said there is no immediate indication other suspects were involved in the planning, preparation, or execution of the attack.
