Detectives performing a welfare check on a 10-month-old boy also found marijuana plants and more than a dozen weapons at a Southlake home, authorities said.[[288725811,L]]

Police said the officers went to the home in the 100 block of Sweet Street Sunday afternoon after a person who had recently been at the home requested the welfare check. Investigators found probable cause to think marijuana was at the home, so they obtained a search warrant.

A search of the home yielded about 55 marijuana plants, a marijuana growing operation, several firearms and ammunition, police said.

Authorities said they arrested 52-year-old Keith Edward Fields and 51-year-old Julia Elizabeth Thacker and charged them with possession of marijuana. Fields and Thacker have since bonded out of jail.

Child Protective Services took the boy — who is the grandchild of at least one of the two arrested — to stay with a relative. His condition was not reported.
