Officer Injured, Woman Arrested in Crash on Texas 114: Irving Police

A woman was arrested Friday morning after a crash that injured an officer and shut down Texas 114 in Irving for several hours, police say. [[330374791,C]]

Irving police said a a silver Jaguar crashed into the back of the police cruiser that was blocking traffic for road construction on westbound Texas 114 near North O'Connor Road at about 3:30 a.m.

The officer involved in the crash was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital. Police said he suffered a concussion and several broken ribs, but he's expected to be OK.

The driver of the Jaguar — Nicole Elaine Arreola — was arrested and charged with intoxication assault. Police said she admitted to driving while intoxicated after previously claiming she wasn't driving.

All westbound lanes of Texas 114 were closed for more than five hours while police investigated the scene. Officials reopened the freeway at about 9 a.m.
