Officer Injured When Car Crashes Into Garland PD Cruiser

Garland police arrested a 26-year-old woman who they said injured an officer when she crashed into his patrol cruiser early Sunday morning.

Authorities said the officer was responding to a vehicle fire and trying to block traffic on eastbound President George Bush Turnpike near Campbell Road when the car crashed into his cruiser at about 12:30 a.m.

Paramedics took the officer to Plano Medical Center for minor injuries, according to police. The officer's name has not been released.

Police said the driver — later identified as Kelsey Harrington — tried to drive away, but was later stopped and arrested. Harrington was charged with accident involving injury and driving while intoxicated. Her bond was set at $3,000.
