Obama Picks Kirk to Lead Trade

Former Dallas mayor joins President-elect's team

President-elect Barack Obama nominated former Dallas mayor Ron Kirk to be U.S. trade representative.

Kirk served as Obama's campaign chairman in Texas.

In his new job, Ron Kirk will negotiate trade deals with other countries and serve as the President's primary advisor on trade policy.

Kirk served as Dallas mayor from 1995 to 2001.

Most recently he has been practicing law as a partner of the Vinson & Elkins law firm.
