Grand Canyon National Park Services is investigating the death of a North Texas teenager.
Zackery Loney, 17, of Paradise died Friday during a hike with his brothers at the Grand Canyon in Arizona, according to an official with National Park Services.
The Coconino County, Ariz. medical examiner said the cause of Loney’s death is still pending.
Loney was a student at Paradise High School in Wise County.
A memorial service will be held Monday, July 13 at 11 a.m. at the Paradise High School gym.
A Zack Loney Fund account has been set up at the First State Bank Paradise branch for Loney’s family to help offset expenses.
There is also a memorial scholarship in Zack Loney's name set up at Paradise ISD.
