North Texas Storms Blamed for Delays and Cancellations at DFW Airport

Thunderstorms and heavy rain and lightning in North Texas made Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport the most delayed airport in the country Thursday morning.

Storms forced the cancellation of 141 outbound flights and 136 inbound flights.

As of The Federal Aviation Administration's Air Traffic Control System Command Center said arriving flights were delayed an average of three hours and 48 minutes.

The FAA reports departures were being held at the gate and taxi delays were between 46 minutes and one hour and increasing.

DFW Airport tweeted for all passengers to keep their eyes on the weather.

As of 9:30 a.m. American Airlines reported it canceled 167 flights and 98 flights had been delayed.
