North Texas Rings in 2014

On New Year's Eve, many North Texans headed out to celebrate the end of 2013 and the beginning of 2014.

Downtown Fort Worth's Sundance Square was packed as people filled restaurants or clubs while ringing in the new year with live music, fireworks or other entertainment.

Bob and Patti Kneip hadn’t been out for New Year's Eve in a long time, so they decided to head downtown to have dinner.   The couple said it was awesome to get out, away from everyday life and to do something special for the holiday.

John Thomas brought his whole family downtown and said the atmosphere in Sundance Square couldn't be beat. Chelle Gaede and Donnie Coffee saw the exit of 2013 with their first-ever carriage ride.

While there was plenty of spirit outside, there were also plenty of spirits inside area liquor stores.  At Fossil Creek Liquor, the lines were long with people buying alcohol to celebrate at home or with friends.

"This is a lesson in procrastination. I have not bought champagne since last year," said Terry Doherty.

In Dallas, besides the big bash downtown in Victory Plaza, 8,500 people were expected at the Potter's House for a New Year's service. Another 1,000 people were expected to greet 2014 at the Gaylord Texas' Glass Cactus in Grapevine while another 6,000 would rock out to Grammy-nominated Lee Brice at Billy Bob's Texas in the Fort Worth Stockyards.
