North Texas Food Bank Partners With City of Plano to Collect 50,000 Jars of Peanut Butter

The North Texas Food Bank hopes to collect 50,000 pounds of peanut butter by the end of September to help food insecure families in Collin County.

For the fifth year, the food bank is partnering with the City of Plano to collect plastic, regular-sized peanut butter jars that will be used to help feed the 44,000 food insecure children in the county.

"When we think about people that are hungry, we know that a lot of them are children. And, for items like peanut butter, we know it's delicious, nutritious and shelf stable," said Anna Kurian, with the North Texas Food Bank.

Jars of peanut butter can be dropped off at four locations throughout the month of September.

  • Davis Library
    7501-B Independence Parkway
  • Shops at Willow Bend
    6121 W. Park Boulevard
  • NTFB Perot Family Campus
    3677 Mapleshade Lane
  • Carpenter Park Recreation Center
    6701 Coit Road

The Church of Latter Day Saints is kicking things off with a donation of 2,000 pounds of peanut butter on Sept. 4 at 10 a.m. as part of their Bishop's Storehouse program.
