North Texas Families Struggle to Buy Homes in this Real Estate Market

Some North Texas families are struggling to find homes in a housing market benefiting sellers.

Sue Rampy and her family are looking for a three bedroom, two bathroom home in Lewisville. That’s where they live now and where their 9-year-old son goes to school.

“Just every day. We were talking to a realtor and looking at MLS listings all day long,” Rampy said.

After making 13 offers on homes in the last three months, they still don’t have a new home. They’ve been offering $5,000 to $10,000 over the asking price and even writing letters to the sellers to introduce them to the family.

“Making offer, after offer, after offer and then being turned down over, and over and over again,” Rampy said it’s been a frustrating process.

They’re looking for a three bedroom, two bath house with a pool. At every open house, Rampy said they see the same 20 families.

“Oh it’s devastating. We’ve had beautiful homes that we were set on and then to get told you don’t get it – is just devastating.”
