North Texas ‘Band of Brothers' In Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

North Texas will be well represented this year at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade as two brothers from Aledo travel to the Big Apple to be a part of the Thanksgiving Day tradition.

Austin and Parker Ferrell will be a part of the Macy’s Great American Marching Band.

“It’s breathtaking just to think about it,” Austin Ferrell said.

The brothers say they are the first students from Aledo High School to have the annual honor.

"That's pretty cool," Parker Ferrell said. "That's probably cooler than just going up there. Being the first from the Aledo area to go up there."

The brothers auditioned separately by posting videos to YouTube and are excited to share the experience with each other.

"It's going to be really cool going up there with my brother," Parker said. "There are going to be so many kids going up there alone."

While their family will travel to New York City to watch them perform on the five mile parade route, many in Aledo will watch closely from home. Austin remembers doing the same as a child.

“When I was a kid and I used to think 'Oh wow, I really want to do that,'" Austin said. "Now I hope there are kids saying 'Oh wow, I really want to do that.'"
