New Video Released in Search for CVS Gunman Who Shot Pregnant Woman

Child delivered Saturday; mother and child are in critical but stable condition

New video has been released in the search for the gunman who shot a pregnant woman during an apparent robbery at a Dallas CVS early Saturday morning.

The new surveillance video shows the man walking into the store on Mockingbird Lane near the SMU campus at about 6:40 a.m. and then, about 45 seconds later, running out.

University Park Assistant Police Chief Jim Savage asked Monday afternoon that anyone watching the clip pay special attention to the man's gait, as he walks or runs, as well as his style of clothing to see if anything looks familiar.

The man seen running out of the store was said to be about 6 feet tall, wearing dark-colored, heavy winter clothing, a hood and his face was covered. A further, more detailed description has not yet been provided.

Investigators said the employee, identified by University Park police Monday as 29-year-old Orelia Sade Hollins, was eight months pregnant.

"It’s evil. That’s the only word I can think is just pure evil. There’s no reason that I could even think why you would do that." said Savage.

Hollins was working at the store when she and a male employee were confronted by an armed man demanding money. While the other employee struggled to open the register, the man fired the gun, striking Hollins in the "waist area."

Savage said Monday that Hollins said she did not recognize the armed robber, but described his voice as "raspy," like a smoker's voice.

Hollins remained in critical but stable condition Monday; her baby boy was delivered Saturday afternoon and is believed to also be in critical but stable condition. Officials have not said if the child suffered any injuries in the shooting.

"It kind of affects you personally," said Savage. "We all have kids. We’ve all responded to situations like this and it just makes us more determined to catch the person and bring him in."

The second employee was not hurt, police said.

University Park Assistant Police Chief Jim Savage said the gunman remains at-large and that the investigation is ongoing.

Roly Poly, which is a few doors down from CVS, will be matching tips from the week up to $1,000 to help with Hollins' recovery.

The owner of the sandwich shop said they have raised about $600 as of Monday afternoon, which he and three others will match up to $1,000. They expect to easily raise the $5,000 goal and then some.

Roly Poly's tailgate space at SMU will be collecting baby donations this weekend during homecoming festivities. The sandwich shop will accept donations of any kind through Sunday, the owner said.

A representative with CVS corporate offices said the company was pleased to hear Hollins and her baby were recovering.

The company is collecting products in the store for her and her baby and are working with police to set up a reward for information leading to the shooter.

Anyone with information about the shooting or the gunman is asked to call police at 214-564-4148 or 214-987-5354.
