The Republican race for Texas Lieutenant Governor went from nasty to bizarre Wednesday.
Incumbent Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst's campaign posted a YouTube video titled, "The Ballad of Dannie Goeb."
The title refers to the birth name of Dewhurst's opponent, State Sen. Dan Patrick (R), Houston. Patrick, a former TV sportscaster and radio talk show host, began calling himself Dan Patrick decades ago.
The video features a fictional Patrick singing about his name change and 1980s bankruptcy to the tune "Let It Go," from the Disney movie "Frozen." It also shows Patrick shirtless and letting two women paint him Houston Oiler blue.
NBC 5 reached out to Patrick's campaign for a response to the YouTube video.
"David Dewhurst is rehashing a claim that has been proven false in a desperate attempt to cling to power," said campaign manager Logan Spence. "Dan Patrick won't be distracted from his focus on the issues that are important to voters: border security, lowering property taxes and protecting Texas values."
The two candidates face each other in a runoff election May 27.
