New Branding for Tallest Building in Amarillo

Amarillo's tallest building is about to get a new look.

The Chase Bank logo is coming down from atop the 31-story Chase Tower in two weeks as the bank vacates the 374-foot building it's called home for a decade. The banking company is consolidating its operations elsewhere in Amarillo and joins two other major tenants -- Excel Energy and West Texas A&M University -- to recently depart the structure that opened in 1971.

The building's leasing agent, Aaron Emerson, tells the Amarillo Globe-News that leasing activity to fill as much as 100,000 square feet of vacant space has been steady, including 27,000 square feet leased in the last 30 days.

He says the landmark office building in the Texas Panhandle city likely will be renamed Amarillo Tower.
