Neighbors rescued an 85-year-old man after flames trapped him in his southeast Dallas mobile home, while the man’s disabled son managed to escape.
The fire gutted the entire back half of the mobile home in the 14700 block of Lasater Road, where James Malone lived with his son, disabled veteran Danny Malone.
Neighbors ran into the home to rescue James, who suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to Parkland Medical Center in Dallas.
Danny was able to escape unharmed when he heard the smoke alarm going off. When outside, he discovered that neighbors had already entered the home and rescued his father, who was on the front porch.
Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
