NBC 5 / KXAS-TV and Telemundo 39 / KXTX-TV are partnering with the NBCUniversal Foundation to launch the fourth annual 21st Century Solutions program, a grant challenge for local non-profit organizations implementing new and innovative programs.
21st Century Solutions supports non-profit organizations addressing community challenges with fresh perspectives and encourages social innovation to make change.
“It is our responsibility to serve North Texas communities and we do so in a number of ways, from providing daily news and information to alerting viewers when severe weather may damage their homes or threaten their lives,” said Tom Ehlmann, President and General Manager of NBC 5. “Our partnerships with local non-profit communities are another way for us to reach out and touch people, especially people in need of help. We are delighted to be able to take the 21st Century Solutions program into its fourth year offering grants to worthy organizations that truly make a difference.”

The competitive grant program is open to eligible 501(c)(3) organizations that are implementing progressive programs that address emerging or ongoing community challenges in the areas of civic engagement, education, environment, jobs and economic empowerment, media arts and technology. NBC 5 and Telemundo 39’s goal is to highlight organizations addressing community issues in new and creative ways.
Interested 501 (c)(3) organizations wishing to compete in the grant challenge can review the eligibility criteria and complete an application at www.nbcdfw.com/21stCenturySolutions by July 3, 2015. Three North Texas organizations will win grants totaling $100,000 to be announced by the end of the year.
