The northbound lanes of Interstate 45 in Wilmer are back open after a fiery crash shut it down for hours Tuesday afternoon.
Officials told NBC 5 hazardous materials crews had to clean the roadway after an 18-wheeler caught fire at I-45 and Pleasant Run Road.
The driver was headed north on the I-45 service road when they lost control, hit a median, crossed all three lanes of the interstate and hit the center concrete land divider, causing the truck to burst into flames.
There were five people inside of the truck, but they each escaped without injury.
