A man riding a motorcycle on Interstate 35E in Denton was killed Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a set of wheels that came loose from a tractor trailer, officials say.[[454436713,R]]
Bryan Cose, a Denton city spokesman, said the wheels broke off from an 18-wheeler traveling northbound near the 3300 block of I-35E at about 1:44 p.m.
The two side-by-side wheels remained attached to each other as they flew over the concrete divider, entering the southbound lanes of I-35E, Cose said.
The wheels struck a motorcycle traveling southbound in the left lane and a Toyota Camry in the southbound center lane.
The motorcyclist, identified as 23-year-old Brady Burger, of Sanger, was killed by the impact, Cose said. Two people inside the Toyota were not hurt.
Cose said the driver of the 18-wheeler pulled over and was interviewed by investigators.
No further information was released.
