A motorcyclist died Thursday afternoon after crashing along a rural road outside of Melissa in Collin County, authorities say.
The crash happened at about 3:50 p.m.
The motorcyclist was going north on Farm-to-Market Road 1827 near County Road 988, when the operator lost control and the motorcycle left the roadway, according to Texas Department of Public Safety.
The rider was ejected from the bike and died at the scene of the crash.
Police are still investigating what caused the motorcycle rider to lose control.
The name of the victim is being withheld, pending notification of relatives.
