A 7-year old boy who disappeared from his Plano home was found a mile away from his house.
A neighbor found Jaylen Tasby outside a Dickey's barbecue near Alma Drive and West Spring Creek Parkway. The woman found out about the search through social media site, Nextdoor, Plano police said.
"He was scared because he was about to get in trouble for something he wasn't supposed to do," said Jemetria Tasby, the boy's mother.
Tasby told NBC 5 she asked her son, Jaylen, to help put away groceries. Jaylen was upset and stormed off around 8 p.m. on Monday. Tasby reported her son missing 20 minutes later.
"The main thing that kept crossing my mind was, 'What if I have to bury my child or what if he won't come back breathing?' I'm just happy she found him. She didn't have to do that," Tasby said. "We're very grateful for good people. I can't say thank you enough."
Tasby said she would like to thank the good Samaritan in person. Police haven't released the woman's name, but plan on honoring her at a special ceremony next week.
