Body Found in Eagle Mountain Lake Identified as Missing Man

Authorities have identified the body found Wednesday in a submerged truck at Eagle Mountain Lake as a man who was reported missing last month.

Azle police said the Tarrant County Medical Examiner positively identified the body as 56-year-old Jim Bob Cook, of Reno, Texas.[[415757033,C]]

Tarrant Regional Water District police where using sonar equipment to search the shallow water of the lake when they located the truck near the 6500 block of Wells Burnett Road at about 4 p.m.

"The vehicle itself is intact. It does not appear to be greatly damaged," Azle Police Chief Rick Pippins said. "There's no indication that the vehicle was involved in a crash, other than leaving the parking lot and ending up in the water."

An autopsy will determine Cook's cause and manner of death, police said.

Cook was reported missing in Azle on Feb. 8.

"We offer our deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Cook on the loss of their loved one," Azle Police Chief Rick Pippins said in a statement Thursday. "We will continue to support the family in any way we can and of course offer or assistance to the TRWD Police Department as they continue the investigation into the death of Mr. Cook."
